The Outwell Montana 6PE has always been an iconic tent and the latest version is no exception. The spacious living area is still a key feature of the Montana and now there is an open canopy on the front to provide more shelter when entering the tent. The canopy itself is the same height as the tent keeping in with the design. Steel poled tents aren’t as readily available as they used to and the Montana still offers something a bit different to air. A side annexe is a perfect storage solution or can also be used as an area to put a portable toilet for when the kids need to go in the middle of the night. The 6PE is made from a 150D pro fabric which feels premium and allows the tent to have a longer lifespan. This – complimented with a 6,000mm HH – makes it one of the most reliable Polyester materials on the market.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Montana 6PE is the headroom. There aren’t many tents on the market which can compete with it and this helps to make the tent feel bigger than it is and allow you to move furniture closer to the sides as the walls are slightly more vertical. Throughout the tent there are large tinted PVC windows to give plenty of light into the tent and visibility out; below the window are zip up curtains to get privacy when needed. An additional front awning can be added onto the tent to make it bigger and give you that additional third zone for cooking or storage.

Not only does the tent come with high-vis guylines, but also ‘Storm Ties’ Velcro around the 19mm steel poles to make sure the fabric and poles are tensioned together. Outwell have really gone to town on including things like their own HookTrack System to give you the option to have a hanging point for lights or storage pockets throughout the tent. ‘Quick & Quiet’ Access doors are located on the bedroom compartment and the living room door. Premier Bedrooms which are nice and dark but have a Rear Ventilation System built in to increase the airflow and help reduce condensation (this can be covered to keep the bedroom nice and dark if needed).

It is nice to see that the Outwell Montana still lives on and hasn’t changed roots from being one of the best steel pole tents on the market.
